Obsessed with using Oysters as a biological microfilter, O.C.B. founder Joe Rueter, has worked in many ways to promote the filtration viability of Oysters for water quality restoration purposes. In 2002 as a collage Aquaculture intern
in Gloucester Massachusetts, he witnessed firsthand the oyster's ability to remove fluorocarbons, toxins, PCB's and even feces when used as a companion species in salmon hatchery tanks. This ignited a passion for oysters as a way to remove many types of pollution not just from aquaculture operation's tanks but the entire global ocean as a whole.
